5 effective tips for students to crack a digital interview

Preparing for an interview is a bittersweet feeling. It reminds students of their capabilities and also, sometimes, makes them question their self-worth. Students might drain themselves for days looking for that perfect opening line or that dress through which they would be able to give that perfect impact that is needed. It might also be possible that anxious students ask the help of their parents, mentors and their seniors to help them guide in their interview process. Some pre-interview rituals might include borrowing your friend’s tie and calling your mother. All these are changed when it's a digital interview. Digital Interviews don’t give you the chance to ponder on your attire (but you have to). It makes you worry about all the things that you are not confident about. But eventually, it makes you way more confident. Embracing the new normal and accepting the chance wholeheartedly, we at Sanskriti University, one of the best university in India, are going to share some tips that will help all the anxious and worried students out there, to have a wonderfully successful interview.

1. Smile - One of the easiest ways to deal with complex situations that cause worry, is to smile. Smiling gives the person on the other side of the screen an idea that you are confident and not scared. It also helps build a trustworthy relationship from Day 1. We always advise students to smile a lot in online and offline interviews to help relax and actively participate in the interview. Remember, more than half of your confidence is in that smile!

2. Ask Questions- Just because they are not sitting in front of you doesn't mean that it is any less of an interview. We have seen students having tons of confusion after their interviews just because they did not ask enough questions. Don’t let the virtual nature of the interview become an obstacle between you and your dream career. It’s YOUR interview and your potential workspace, make sure you ask all the important questions. Sometimes, it also happens that the employers get the idea of the right candidate through the kind of questions they ask.

3. The Power of Gesturing- Using hand gestures while giving them an idea about your hobbies is a good practice. Gesturing helps in getting clearer thoughts and speaking crisp sentences. It is linked with effective communication. It is usually done in acts of public speaking to move the attention towards the speaker and it helps in interviews as well.

4. Familiarize yourself with the Application- It is important to get an idea about the application/software on which the interview is scheduled. It doesn’t give out a good first impression if you struggle with it. Master it. Show them that you have done your research.

5. Make the environment right- As you will be giving your interview at home, it is on you to make the environment for it. Choose a quiet place and dress like it's an in-person interview. Create your own aura.

Follow these tips and read up everything that you think is relevant to the interview process. Leave no stones unturned when it comes to your career.
